HYPNOTHERAPY

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis involves achievement of a state of deep relaxation of the mind and the engagement of the imagination. The hypnotic state is a natural process that we all enter into each day before we go to sleep, or when our attention is wrapped up in a movie or when we are engaged in some routine that has become automatic.  In hypnosis this imaginative process is focused and opens the subconscious to suggestions.  All hypnosis is really self-hypnosis and my role is to act as a guide to help you heighten your senses and access and unlock the subconscious part of your mind.  It is entirely up to you if you wish to follow.  No one can be hypnotized against their will or forced to do anything that they would not do in a fully conscious and alert state.

The hypnotic state is characterized by extreme suggestibility, relaxation and heightened imagination. It is unlike sleep in that the subject is alert the entire time. It is most often compared to daydreaming, or the feeling of “losing yourself” in a book or movie. You are fully conscious, but you tune out most of the stimuli around you.

Hypnosis is a state of mind that we use as a vehicle to communicate with the subconscious mind. In this state, the subconscious is more open and receptive to suggestions. By combining the power of suggestion with the power of imagination in the hypnotic state, we create a powerful environment for change and growth.
